Port of Fleetwood

The Port of Fleetwood sits at the mouth of the River Wyre on the Lancashire coast. It covers about 100 acres. Vessels reach the enclosed dock through a buoyed channel in the river and a lock at the lockhead.

The port handles commercial traffic on the Wyre Fish Dock quay, a RoRo berth and an Isle of Man berth. Wyre Dock also holds the leisure marina.

The harbour authority

From 18/09/2026 the statutory harbour authority is FJ Ports (Fleetwood) Ltd, company number 15560248, in place of Associated British Ports. The change is made by The Ports of Fleetwood and Silloth (Transfer of Undertaking) Harbour Revision Order 2026, SI 2026 No. 404. See the change of authority notice.

The Fleetwood Harbour and Docks Bye-Laws 1982 continue in force. So do the notices to mariners, the harbour limits and the port plan.

Getting in

The lock gates are open for three hours around each high water, from 1.5 hours before until 1.5 hours after. Call Fleetwood Dock on VHF Channel 12 before you run the dock channel. Those hours shorten on neap tides and during sluicing and dredging.

Full detail, including maximum dimensions for each berth, is on the port information page.
